Mr. Shemik is a personal injury attorney who is devoted to helping clients obtain justice after suffering a catastrophic injury. Mr. Shemik prosecutes all types of personal injury cases, including those involving motor vehicle collisions, premises liability, construction injuries, slip and fall incidents, and wrongful death. He is involved in all stages of his clients’ litigation and is passionate about making sure clients receive full and fair compensation for their injuries.
Mr. Shemik’s BackgroundMr. Shemik was born and raised here in the Western New York area. He grew up on Grand Island and knew he wanted to be a lawyer since elementary school. That goal never changed, and now he gets to live his dream every day at the Dietrich Law Firm P.C., fighting for those that were seriously injured.
While attending the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB) for undergraduate studies, Mr. Shemik majored in Business Finance and graduated Summa Cum Laude while working for a local law firm as the manager of their night staff litigation department. His academic success, local volunteer work, and work history landed him a scholarship to Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law in Dallas, Texas, where he graduated in 2014 Cum Laude. While attending SMU Law School, Mr. Shemik was a member of the International Law Review – the second most widely-read legal publication in the world. Mr. Shemik also had the opportunity to help those in need while serving on several different legal clinics. His courtroom success in the Criminal Defense Legal Clinic was rewarded by the faculty when they selected him to serve as the Criminal Defense Student Chief for the following semester. It was during these legal clinics that he found his passion: providing justice for those in need and standing up for the individual against the big corporations. When Mr. Shemik returned to Buffalo each summer during law school, he clerked for several local law firms but also had the unique opportunity to intern as a law clerk for three of our local Supreme Court Justices in Niagara County. During that time, he gained invaluable insight into the judicial process of all matters, including personal injury cases, through the Court’s eyes – lessons and knowledge he reflects back on daily. Following his graduation from SMU Law School, Mr. Shemik joined the Dietrich Law Firm P.C. as an Associate Attorney to help fight for those that have been seriously injured as a result of someone else’s negligence.
Personal PhilosophyMr. Shemik strives to maintain personal contact throughout each client’s case from inception to conclusion; listen to his clients’ concerns; guide his clients step-by-step through the legal process; and aggressively pursue his clients’ interests to obtain just compensation. Unfortunately, insurance companies do not have any client’s best interest in mind after a significant injury. Mr. Shemik knows that after someone has been seriously injured, their primary focus should be on getting better and back on their feet. Clients may have questions about where to treat, lost wages, medical bills, property damage, and how to protect themselves in the future. That is why they need a legal representative who will understand their rights, guide them through the process, and pursue maximum compensation for their injuries. Mr. Shemik welcomes the opportunity to be of service to those that have been seriously injured and to fight for their rights.
He is a member of the Erie County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
